Frontera Produce Reinforces Commitment to Quality Assurance
EDINBURG, TEXAS -- March 18, 2008
EDINBURG, TX – (March 18, 2008) - Frontera Produce, LTD today announced its reinforced commitment to quality assurance by creating a dedicated division focused on food safety and security. Recent hire Betsy Klein will direct this new division.
As the quality assurance supervisor, Klein is responsible for all activities involving food safety and security for Frontera and its subsidiaries, including compliance with regulatory programs, government protocol and good manufacturing practices. In addition, Klein will drive attaining Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification for the company.
Klein is initiating a grower outreach program to ensure Frontera’s grower partners have the appropriate information on existing and upcoming regulations on food safety and security. She will also participate in an internal traceability team, helping drive Frontera protocols, as well as industry standards as a whole.
“Quality assurance has always been of vital importance to Frontera. We are continuing to enhance our focus on food quality and safety with the launch of this dedicated division,” said Amy Gates, vice president of administration and finance at Frontera. “Betsy Klein brings valuable insight regarding both the scientific and administrative levels of quality assurance, and her experience will contribute greatly as she focuses on internal and external procedures.”
Klein’s background extends from food service to education and healthcare services. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.
